OPLAA - Open Library for Aegean Archaeology
Open Library for Aegean Archaeology is a comprehensive, regularly updated and freely accessible collection of digital and digitized publications on Aegean archeology. By providing an extensive and continuously expandable collection of monographs, anthologies and essays and by implementing innovative search technologies, we aim to substantially support the communication amongst researchers and scholars in this dynamically evolving branch of archeology. OPLAA offers the first overall full text search for publications on Aegean early history, and by using further SEARCH-tools (geocoding, annotation etc.) intends to tap the potential of further specialist digital collections according to the Semantic Web.
As part of the programme "Specialized Information Services for Archeology”, financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the bibliography is maintained and managed by Heidelberg University Library. The titles are catalogued and subject indexed in the Südwestdeutschen Bibliotheksverbund (SWB) using normative data from the German Integrated Authority File (GND). The database has been implemented with the open source software VuFind Discovery.
