The "Acta Praehistorica et Achaeologica" have been published since 1970 and were initially published by the West Berlin Museum of Prehistory and Early History. Until reunification, they functioned as the organ of the collections remaining in West Berlin after World War 2. Since the it now serves as the yearbook of the Berlin Museum of Pre- and Early History.
The issues are put online with a moving wall of 2 years after the author rights are cleared.

The journal is published by the Römisch-Germanische Kommission (RGK) [Roman-Germanic Commission (RGK)] and includes, next to the RGK’s annual report, larger research overviews about current and completed projects dealing with the period between the Stone Age until the early Middle Ages. It also comprises articles and conference reports about natural sciences. Furthermore, it occasionally contains various bibliographies.
Up to and including vol. 41 1960(1961), all volumes are online. After clarification of open copyright issues, further volumes will follow. The current issues from vol. 94 2013(2016) onwards are published simultaneously online and in print.

The Bonner Jahrbücher were launched in 1842 and initially were yearbooks of the Verein von Altertumsfreunden im Rheinlande. Since then, they bear the names of the publishing institutions in their title. Today the journal is published by the founding institution, the LVR - Amt für Bodendenkmalpflege im Rheinland and the LVR - Landesmuseum Bonn. In 1895 the common short title “Bonner Jahrbücher” became the official title.

The Jahrbuch der Berliner Museen has been founded in West Berlin in 1959 as Neue Folge of the Jahrbuch der Preussischen Kunstsammlungen. The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin thus succeeded the renowned annual of the former museums of Prussia which was dissolved in 1947. Today it is one of Germany's leading annuals in the area of art history, archaeology and conservation science. It contains contributions by members of the museums and collections as well as other specialists. Scholarly articles are published in German, English, French, and Italian.

The “Jahresschrift für mitteldeutsche Vorgeschichte“ is published by the State Office for Heritage Management and Archaeology Saxony-Anhalt in Halle (Saale). The journal has been released under this title at irregular intervals since 1940. Prior to this it was entitled “Jahresschrift für die Vorgeschichte der sächsisch-thüringischen Länder“ (volumes 1/1902–31/1939).
The articles serve as a means to present scientific results in the field of archaeology (Palaeolithic to modern history). In recent times, contributions from neighbouring disciplines were increasingly included within the periodical.

Since 1927 an issue a year was published, except during the years 1942-1949.
